The May Holidays in CONGO!
With work on her new music video “Lubi Menya” (Love Me) just about finished, Gaitana left the stage and went home to prepare. On May 2, 2009 she left for the Congo to visit her father, whom she missed so dearly
Gaitana had dreamed of visiting her homeland so much after not seeing her relatives for 12 whole years. Finally, over the May Holidays her schedule opened up just enough for a visit.Gaitana spent her early childhood in the Congo. When she turned 5, she and her mother moved to the Ukraine while her father remained in Brazzaville (Congo’s capitol). Gaitana’s father, Claver Essami is Chief Telecommunications Director of the Congo, and she has a 22-year- old brother, Denzhandr waiting for her when she arrives. More than anything Gaitana looks forward to spending time with them.
Gaitana: “I often dreamed of visiting my father, but responsibilities and my career never gave me enough time,” said Gaitana. “When I finally got a visa I was the happiest girl in the world. Another dream came true. Now I am preparing for all the new impressions that will come in a different world. And the main thing is that my relatives, my father and brother and all my big family are waiting for me. My father has 8 brothers and sisters. I want to visit all of them.”
Gaitana’s relatives are expecting her arrival anxiously. In the center of Brazaville, Claver Essami has a house, and in it a room for Gaitana. “For you, my eldest and favorite daughter there will always be a room in any house of mine,” said Claver. Recently, he built a country house not far away from the capitol. A special room was made for his daughter.
Gaitana took some unusual luggage with her to the Congo – two toy terrier puppies, each weighing no more than 700 grams. One of them she plans to give to her family, and the other to disadvantaged children of the slums. Gaitana has a toy terrier herself, a little dog-named Peppi. She loves her so much that she bought the same breed for her trip to the Congo.
Gaitana will return to Kiev in mid-May with all kinds of new impressions, photos, and most likely, new creative ideas.
